Click here to register for the 2006 Reform NY Day of Action!

Last year's Reform NY Day was a resounding success!  Hundreds of New Yorkers from across the state came together in Albany to demand much needed reforms for New York State government.  Not only were reforms enacted in 7 of our 10 issue areas but Governor Pataki signed the bill that enhanced New York State's Freedom of Information Law on the day of our event!

Though the reforms enacted have been broad, they lack depth, and we believe that more fundamental reforms must be made in order to make New York State government truly open, ethical and accountable.  That is why this year we are targeting a few specific and highly important reforms.

So, join us in Albany on May 9th to tell your elected officials that it's once again time for some much needed spring cleaning!  Click here to register.  We will provide breakfast, lunch, transportation and arrange meetings with your legislators.  So sign up now!

VOTING MACHINES AND NYCCE

On September 1, 2005, NYCCE sponsored a workshop on the difference between DREs and optical scanners and what you can do to help protect your vote.  It was presented by Bo Lipari, Director of New Yorkers for Verified Voting. Click here to go to a web site where you can learn more about protecting your vote.

We also encourage each reader to write letters to their County Election Commissioners and/or their County Legislators, urging them to adopt a specific type of Voting Machine.  Go to the The County Campaigning page of the Web Site of New Yorkers for Verified Voting to find ways you can take action now!

Local Article About VOTING MACHINES - Here is a link to an excellent article on voting "reform" written by Cheryl Gerber (a Kingston resident) and published in the Chronogram.
